Dear Onteora Families,

We want to share a reminder about our expectations for make-up work when students are absent for an excused reason (such as illness, family emergency, religious observance, or other approved circumstances).

Students will have up to three (3) school days after returning from an excused absence to complete all missed work, unless other arrangements are made directly with the teacher. Teachers will provide the necessary assignments and guidance, and students are expected to check in with their teachers to make arrangements. Please note that this policy applies only to excused absences as outlined in Board of Education Policy 7110. Work not completed within this timeframe may be subject to the same standards as late assignments.

To further support students:

• Teachers may offer help during lunch when available.
• Homework Help is offered after school Monday through Thursday, and students who miss an extended period of time or an assessment should plan to stay after school to complete their work.

For any additional questions or clarification, please contact your child’s classroom teacher directly.

This expectation ensures fairness, consistency, and accountability, while also giving students time and structured opportunities to catch up after being out. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your child’s learning.
