Classroom Expectations:
It is the responsibility of everyone in the classroom to help create and maintain a positive learning environment. Students are expected to be accepting and respectful to their classmates as well as to teachers and other staff. Students need to be present and on time to class, and have the necessary materials in class every day. Any homework, projects, take-home quizzes, etc. are expected to be turned in BY THE GIVEN DUE DATE.
Missed Work:
Much of what is learned in class is just that- learned IN class. This is when students have the opportunity to ask questions, receive feedback, learn from instruction and learn from each other. However, there are times when students are unable to be in class for varying reasons. Why would you want to miss Health class : )?? If you miss:
a.) It is the student’s responsibility to obtain the homework assignments, notes and any other pertinent information that is missed during an absence. There will be an area in the classroom that will include missed assignments and copies of class notes.
b.) Missed work due to an absence: Additional time and full credit will be allowed for each day of an excused absence. Assignments are considered late if they are not submitted by the next time a student enters class unless otherwise noted- if late- receive half credit for assignment.
Grading:
Class work/Participation 35%
Homework 10%
Tests/Projects 35%
Quizzes 20%
*Class work grade will include any participation grades for the quarter as well as “Do Now’s”, and any work completed in class.
**Students will have the opportunity to make test corrections on any and all TESTS
Earned Consequences:
Students have the opportunity on a daily basis to make their own choices. If a student’s choice affects themselves or other students around them in a negative way, there will be negative consequences (examples: verbal warnings, lunch detention, negative referral etc.-à Since these situations differ many times, I will address each one individually).
If a student’s choice affects themselves or students around them in a positive way, there will be positive consequences (examples: positive referrals, small extrinsic rewards, verbal rewards etc.)
